My Prayer Life Stinks!!??

Or Does It?

I felt my prayer life stunk. So I began a self quest of reading prayers on website after website. Why couldn’t I say to Jesus some of the prayers that I see online or the meaningful ones I share on my posts? on my own. Why Couldn’t I come up with beautiful prayers on my own?

It bothered me, I began to feel inadequate during my talks with Jesus, especially my bedtime talks. You see, I talk with Jesus as if you and I were sitting across the table having coffee and talking throughout my day. I do the same at bedtime.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God

Philippians 4:6 (NIV)

So here’s what I came up with.

We pray because it’s the most personal way to experience God. It’s our own way, meant to be a conversation between us and God. It’s a way to encounter him and continue on in our growth of getting to know him better, and connecting with Him. God doesn’t require us to pray in any specific way, because it comes from thought, from our inner most selves. He already knows what were going to say, but our God wants to hear from us.

And pray in the spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests, With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lords people.

Ephesians 6:18 (NIV)

Can I read a prayer?

Yes, you can. not only do we come up with our prayers are in our heads, we sure can read a prayer. there are many touching and meaningful prayers out there Some may touch us, or even just somehow, have the words we want to say but don’t know how. SO, go ahead and read prayers. No one can dictate how we have our conversations with God.

But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

Matthew 6:6 (NIV)

So, in answering my own question, my prayer life does not stink.

For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus

1 Timothy 2:5

So Pray, Pray, Pray away my friends. Blessings ~Paula~
