2 Timothy 3:16-17 All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness , so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. (NIV)
The entire Bible is the Inspired word of God. It is trustworthy, we should read it and apply it to our lives. It’s our source of guidance for how we should live. We should study the Bible so we know how to do Christs work.
1 John: 4:14-15 And we have seen and testify that the father has sent his son to be the savior of the world. If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the son of God , God lives in them and they in God. (NIV)
When we learn how to live like Jesus, remember that he modeled for us how to do so. Let’s take a look at some of the traits of Jesus:
- Jesus was humble
- Jesus was loving
- Jesus was a teacher and learned from his heavenly Father
- Jesus served human beings
- Jesus was patient
- Following God’s will mattered most to him, even in death
- Jesus was a friend of sinners, he sought out and saved the lost
- Jesus was faithful
James 4:7-8 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the Devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double minded. (NIV)
How can you come near to God? James gives us five ways:
- Submit.. to God(4:7)commit you life to him and his control, and be willing to follow him.
- Resist the devil(4:7)
- Wash your hands…and purify your hearts (lead a pure life)(4:8)
- Grieve, mourn, and wail in sincere sorrow for your sins(4:9)
- Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up (4:10)
We need to realize and recognize that our worth comes from God alone. Jesus loves to bring the lost into his kingdom, regardless of their backgrounds or previous way of life. Through faith, the lost can be forgiven and made new.
If we want to be more like Jesus, we have to get to know him. Reading the Bible and immersing ourselves in his word, studying him and his teachings. We need to obey, humble ourselves, say good bye to selfishness, put others before ourselves. Also, we should not follow the ways of the world, or the “in” crowed.
Be kind, It’s really not hard to do, even random acts of kindness just might make someones day, we don’t know what kind of day their having. Even a friendly smile and a ” Hello” can brighten someones day.
Take time while your learning, as you grow you will become more perceptive, for example: be perceptive of others pain, afflictions, disabilities, offer to help.
Friends, continue to praise Jesus, even through your biggest storms, trust him- he will get you through your season. Pray… Pray… Pray..
Blessings friends ~~Paula~~
